You are considering applying at a restaurant consistently chosen by critics as the one serving the best gourmet pizza in our area. Pizza by Elizabeths also consistently receives extremely high ratings from the health department for cleanliness. Since opening in June 1993 we have been successful because we have been able to give enough people the quality and creativity they value, and we are pleased and proud of that. We know, however, that we must continually improve in order to stay successful.

We at Elizabeths believe that our employees (who we call "players") are the most important factor in our success. Therefore, we are particular about who we hire. Attitude and personality are more important than skills for most jobs, since we feel we can teach skills. We attempt to create an atmosphere of mutual respect and appreciation for each person, no matter what his or her job is. Our goal is to make money and have fun doing it.

For servers, our pay scale starts at $3.00 per hour. Servers keep their own tips, except for 5% that we ask them to donate to the prep-cooks.
For inexperienced prep-cooks and dishwashers, pay starts at $6.50 per hour. They also participate in tip sharing: the 5% the servers set aside is divided according to the number of hours each cook works.

We try to pay according to a person’s total contribution to the success of Elizabeths, so consideration of doing things beyond a player’s exact job are rewarded in his or her rate of pay. We also award a monthly prize to the person who comes up with the best idea for improving Elizabeths.

We offer a profit sharing plan based on how much profit the restaurant makes. We also have paid vacation for those who average 25 hours a week or more for a full year; they get one week’s vacation at the end of the year. After three years of full time work, they get two weeks paid vacation. We are as flexible as possible concerning unpaid time off.

We off a generous player food benefit.

We expect our players to think for themselves and to be responsible for themselves. They must do what they say they are going to do. They must come to work on time with their own dependable transportation. They must find their own replacement when they want time off or cannot work, and work themselves if they cannot find a replacement.

All players must sign a Confidentiality Agreement stating that they will do nothing to harm Elizabeths during or after their employment here.

Players must be neat and clean in appearance at all times they are at work. They must wear a uniform which they themselves pay for.

Players may work shifts that range from 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m., seven days a week. So, depending on their schedule, players must be prepared to get up early and stay late.
